Who has priority?

If there are several people with mobility aids (e.g. wheelchairs or walkers) or other vehicles (e.g. baby carriages, bicycles) at a stop, the waiting passengers must determine their own order. The following applies:

  • Persons with reduced mobility and passengers with children in baby carriages have priority over recreational equipment (e.g. bicycles).
  • The transportation of persons takes precedence over the transportation of objects.
  • Severely disabled passengers should be given priority.

When boarding the vehicle, a passenger who is already in the vehicle has entered into a contract of carriage and has paid for it. He cannot be obliged to leave the vehicle in favor of a passenger who is disadvantaged in any way.

  • If, for example, a passenger with a baby carriage or bicycle is already in the vehicle, they cannot be asked to leave the vehicle in favor of a passenger with mobility assistance due to a lack of legal basis. However, they can be asked to do so.

Free transport

Severely disabled persons are transported free of charge in accordance with § 228 ff. of SGB IX. To prove eligibility, the valid severely disabled person's ID card and the supplementary sheet with a valid token attached or integrated must be presented.

The following characteristics entered in the severely disabled person's pass entitle the holder to free transportation:

  • “B” - for taking along an accompanying person and/or a dog
  • “Bl” - for taking along a guide dog for the blind as well as an accompanying person

You can obtain the necessary documents from your local pension office in the city (Schwerbehinderung | Stadt Chemnitz) or your district.
