Fare zones
The area covered by the Central Saxony Transport Association (VMS) includes the city of Chemnitz, the districts of Central Saxony, Zwickau and the Erzgebirgskreis. The area is divided into numbered fare zones. The city of Chemnitz is completely covered by fare zone 13.
Uniform fare zone-dependent fares apply within the network. They depend on the number of fare zones used between your starting point and destination and the desired ticket. The number of fare zones determines the required fare level. From four fare zones upwards, the “Verbundraum” fare level applies.
You can find an overview of all fare zones, small city transport, cross-area city transport, the list of towns and border zones on the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen website. Zones that are crossed several times are only counted once.
